Why A Glass Shower Door Might Be Ideal For Your Elderly Parent's Bathroom

If you are helping your elderly parent with remodeling their home, or if you are fixing up part of your home for your elderly parent to live in so that you can provide care for your parent, then you might be curious about the types of improvements that you should make. If you are in the process of fixing up the bathroom, you should know that there are a few different improvements that you can make in this area of the home to help your parent at their advanced age. For example, installing a glass shower door might be a good idea for these reasons and more.

It Is Easier for Them to Clean

Your parent might still try to be independent whenever possible, so they might try to clean up their own bathroom. You probably want to make this as easy for them as possible when you are renovating this area of the home since they might not be capable to do as much when cleaning as they were once able to do. Luckily, a glass shower door can be a wonderful option. After all, glass shower doors are much easier to clean than shower curtains; all that your parent will have to do on most days is use a squeegee to whisk away any water. On days when the shower door needs a thorough cleaning, a glass cleaner should do the trick.

It Is Easier for Others to Check On Them

If your parent is now living with you, it might be because they need more supervision and help than they did in the past. Even if they still live alone, they might have an in-home caregiver who stops by to assist them with certain things. Either way, it will be easier for the person who is helping them with their care to check on them if there is a glass shower door. This could come in really handy in an emergency.

There Is Less of a Tripping Hazard

You could be worried about your parent tripping over the shower curtain when getting in and out of the shower or when standing in the shower and bathing. If this is a concern, then you might want to ditch the shower curtain and install a glass shower door instead. This will have a more streamlined design and should not be a tripping hazard at all, so this will be one less thing that you have to worry about.
