5 Trends To Consider When Remodeling Your Kitchen

Posted on: 6 April 2021

Are you looking for inspiration when it comes to remodeling your kitchen? After all, you want your kitchen to be something that you're proud of when it is finished and not have people mention that it is out of style already. Here are some trends that you should think about when remodeling your kitchen.

Black Cabinetry

One trend that is becoming more popular is to use black as a neutral color for your cabinetry. It doesn't make a room feel heavy when it is used just for the cabinetry. The key is to accent the room with whites to contrast the black with your countertops and natural wood colors.

Full Height Back Splashes

One way to make a kitchen look a bit different is to use a backsplash that goes up the full height of your kitchen walls. This technique is sparingly used, but it can be a great addition to the portion of your kitchen above the stove specifically. By taking the hood away from the wall and suspending it from the ceiling, you can make the stove a focal point of the kitchen by running that backsplash all the way to the ceiling.

Sink Workstations

There are many innovations in kitchen sinks to consider when remodeling your kitchen. The new trend is to put in a sink workstation, which has grooves that allow you to make the sink an area where you can do prep work. This includes cutting boards that rest directly over the sink or boards that allow juices to be strained and go directly into the sink to be disposed of.

Two-Tone Cabinets

Another idea for your cabinets is to inset the doors and drawers and to use two tones of wood. This allows you to have a light color for the framing of the cabinets but go with a darker wood for the doors and drawers. The look is unique, and it cannot be pulled off unless everything is done with an inset design.

Flat Panel Cabinets

You can also go the opposite way with the cabinets by using flat panel cabinets and drawers. This essentially hides all of the framings of the cabinet where all you see are the panels for the drawers. These can be accented with the hardware that attaches to the doors and drawers to really make them stand out. Consider a darker wood cabinet, gold hardware, and white countertops for a fantastic color combination.
