4 Ways To Be Smart When Remodeling Your Bathroom

Posted on: 31 March 2021

Remodeling your bathroom can be a very exciting undertaking. If you are about to start your bathroom remodel, you can also save some money as your transform your bathroom into a more welcoming and usable space.

1. Don't Move Your Plumbing

If at all possible, try not to move your plumbing in your bathroom. Moving the plumbing in your bathroom can quickly get expensive. That doesn't mean that you have to keep everything looking the same. Just try to keep the general location of your shower, sink, and toilet in the same area so you don't have to redo the plumbing. If you decide to move the location of the shower, sink, or toilet, try to do so in a manner or way that minimizes the amount of plumbing work that needs to be done to accomplish this move.

2. Add a Frame to Your Mirror

If you already have a mirror that is still in decent shape, don't invest in an entirely new mirror for your bathroom. Instead, purchase a frame for your mirror. Putting a new frame around your mirror can really change how your bathroom feels and can make an old mirror look like new again. Have some fun and paint the frame in a color that matches your bathroom.

To further change the feeling of your mirror area, change out the lights. Different lights above or on the side of your mirror are another easy way to transform the mirror area of your bathroom.

3. Change Up Your Toilet

Next, you don't have to get rid of your entire toilet if it still works well. If your toilet is still in good working condition, and you just want to be able to change how your toilet looks, invest in a new lid and toilet seat for your toilet. Putting a new lid and toilet seat on your toilet can give it an entirely different feel while keeping the structure intact; this is an easy change that you can do yourself. Just swap out the lid and get out your screwdriver in order to change out your toilet seat.

4. Buy Used Instead of New

You don't have to get all of the supplies for changing up your restroom at the local hardware store. Try hitting up some second-hand stores, flea markets, and garage sales. If you are going for a unique or retro look, you may be able to find unique sinks, mirrors, cabinets, fixtures, and even tubs that you can clean-up and repurpose in your bathroom. To make your bathroom look new again, sometimes turning to the past is helpful.

When it comes to remodeling your bathroom, make smart choices. Try to keep your plumbing in the same location. Change up items you already have with new accessories, such as a new frame for an old mirror, and a new toilet seat and lid for your old toilet. Look towards the past for unique items to use in your bathroom remodel as well. To learn more, contact a company that specializes in building and renovations.
